Earthshot Week by The Earthshot Prize (TEP) took place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 4 to 7 November 2024. It spotlighted groundbreaking environmental solutions, bringing together leading innovators, investors, changemakers, and philanthropists to accelerate action to restore and protect our planet.
As a Global Alliance Founding Partner of TEP, Temasek Trust supported the Prize by spotlighting and supporting climate changemakers and innovators in the lead-up to and during the week. Their innovation, tenacity, and commitment to shaping a sustainable future inspired us all.
Powering the Earthshot Prize Asia Youth Climate Leaders Programme
Temasek Foundation and TPC (Tsao Pao Chee), a Philanthropy Asia Alliance member, supported the TEP Asia Youth Leaders Programme. Organised by Common Purpose, the programme brought together 20 Asian youth climate changemakers to Singapore for immersion sessions with Temasek Trust ecosystem entities — Mandai Nature, Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory and the School of Tomorrow sustainability exhibition supported by Temasek Shophouse.
On 3 November, they joined 100 of their African peers in Cape Town, South Africa, for The Earthshot Prize Climate Youth Leaders Programme. Read more about the youth climate changemakers' experience in this article.

Spotlighting Catalytic Capital and Impact Marketplace Co-Axis
During the TEP Fellowship Retreat, Ms. Joycelyn Ong, Head of Co-Axis, a digital impact marketplace connecting about 100 impact projects from 40 countries to funders, mentored the TEP finalists on fundraising and pitching.

On 4 November, at the Global Alliance Forum, Joycelyn elaborated on how catalytic capital can attract public and private sector funding to accelerate impact.
She also shared how the Temasek Trust ecosystem has been supporting TEP finalists and winners through funding, mentoring, and sharing our networks to drive their growth.
For example, Temasek Trust's Catalytic Capital for Climate and Health (C3H) recently invested in Notpla, a leader in sustainable packaging and 2022 TEP winner. GRST, a TEP 2023 winner; Circ®, a 2023 TEP finalist, and MYCL, a TEP 2024 finalist, are mentees of the Amplifier programme by the Centre for Impact Investing and Practices and Philanthropy Asia Alliance. TEP 2024 finalist Equatic was the 2021 winner of The Liveability Challenge by Temasek Foundation.

Uplifting the Climate Leaders of Today and Tomorrow
On 7 November, Ms. Jennifer Lewis, who heads up Partnerships and Advocacy at Temasek Trust, participated in Café Conversations to mentor the TEP climate youth leaders. She advised them to value collaboration and become an excellent collaborator by prioritising giving instead of receiving —
"All the work around climate is so massive and complex that no one can go about it alone. If you want to be in this space, you must learn how to collaborate. When you open yourself up to having a partner on the journey, you will go very far and reach the end that you are after. Being a good collaborator is to be the first to give."

Jennifer advised the youths to be proactive about networking because one never knows which doors may open for them — “Just come away [from networking events] with three name cards. They may seem random, but at some point, everything intersects, and it'll be useful for you.”
Temasek Trust will continue deepening our partnership with the Earthshot Prize and other like-minded partners from across both our ecosystems to support climate changemakers, and to spotlight and scale innovative solutions — especially those focused on Asia — for a greener and cooler planet.
