The Philanthropy Asia Alliance’s (PAA) inaugural Impact Report, titled Seeding a Hopeful Future, captures the early strides made since its launch in September 2023.
This report highlights how collaboration across public, private, and philanthropic sectors is driving meaningful change across Asia’s most pressing challenges.
In just over a year, PAA members committed millions of dollars of their pledges towards programmes and initiatives in Asia. Among them are 19 catalytic projects, in areas spanning climate, education, and health, that PAA has mobilised over US$37.5 million in funding towards.
Its portfolio of catalytic projects includes those with multiple funders, public-private-philanthropic partnerships, scalability across geographies, or lighthouse programmes featuring emerging themes or novel approaches.
Leveraging the collective strengths of 84 global members and partners, PAA has advanced solutions such as:
- Decarbonising rice farming to cut methane emissions, improve farmers’ livelihoods, and boost food security
- Strengthening early childhood development for underserved migrant communities in Vietnam
- Enhancing infectious diseases detection and response through the Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative
- Championing ocean-based climate mitigation solutions in Indonesia
- Launching the Communities initiative to accelerate collaborative philanthropy and scalable impact in oceans, land use, and education
- Convening global leaders at the Philanthropy Asia Summit to catalyse partnerships and initiatives
- Bridging knowledge and action through thought leadership on climate philanthropy and sustainable agriculture
